What are Tortas?
So you know all about tacos, right? But what about TORTAS? Sold by street vendors throughout Mexico, Tortas are classic Mexican sandwiches stacked full of delicious fillings. The good news is, you don’t have to travel to Mexico for your Torta fix – they’re available right here, right now from our friends at ‘Orta Torta’ on Deliveroo
What’s in a Torta?
Traditionally filled with marinated meats, vegetables and black beans, the intense flavours of Tortas are pumped up with traditional, handmade salsas and fresh garnishes. Tortas are not just super tasty, they’re super filling too!
What makes a Torta special?
The tasty Torta fillings are encased in a specific type of Mexican roll called a ‘bolillo’. The bread used with Tortas is really important – any old bread roll just will not do! The bolillo is light and airy with a crispy exterior, making it the perfect accompaniment to showcase the amazing flavours of the Torta filling. Orta Torta have teamed up with local artisan bakers, The Leeds Bread Co-op, to offer a roll as close to the bolillo as you can find here, and we have to say we’re impressed with the finished article.
Where can I get a Torta?
Tortas are served hot and Mexicans eat them at anytime of the day – all day, if you wish! Be tempted by the Orta Torta menu below, which is available on Deliveroo – you really ‘orta’!
